Surfing

ON THE WATER

There’s plenty to do on, in and around the water in Kiama and surrounding villages. Try your hand or goofy foot with Gerringong Surf School, give Stand up paddle boarding a go, go fishing with Kiama Charters, or just take a relaxing swim in one of our many well known beaches.

SHOPPING

Specialty boutique shops line Kiama and Gerringong’s main streets, with everything from homewares, antiques and collectibles from the historic Terrace Houses directly across the road to surf wear and equipment at Natural Necessity and locally produced goods from The Collective.

If a stroll around a market is in order, Kiama Makers and Growers Markets are on every 4th Saturday at Black Beach and Kiama Farmers Markets are on every Wednesday afternoon at Surf Beach. 

Crooked River Winery

EAT & DRINK

If sipping wine or tasting a few craft beers sounds like your perfect way to spend an afternoon, then nearby Crooked River Winery and Stoic Brewery in Gerringong needs to be on your getaway agenda. 

Spend an arvo hanging at Jamberoo Country Pub where there’s live music every Sunday, grab a bite from Instagram worthy bakery Flour Water Salt or head to Kiama Fish Markets for a kilo of fresh prawns to devour on the balcony.

There’s plenty to do for the kids (and adults) when it comes school holiday activities. Nearby Jamberoo Recreation Park is where you control the action with plenty of waterslides, picnic areas and the original toboggan. 

There’s tree-top towers and Australia’s highest zip-line ride at Illawarra Fly and there’s always something happening for the kids in Kiama around school holidays.

You might get a bit distracted by the views from Gerringong Golf Club, try not to let it affect your swing! If you’re after a leisurely 18 holes of golf followed by a schnitty and beer, Kiama Golf Club, located on the Minnamurra River is what you’re after. If you’re making a golf getaway, then there’s also nearby Jamberoo GolfCalderwood Golf and The Links Shell Cove

Kiama is well known for it’s epic blow hole on the headland, it’s stunning beaches and rolling country hills overlooking the Ocean. 

There’s coastal walks at Gerroa, or rainforest strolls to suit any ability at Minnamurra Rainforest.

Rugby Tournament, Kiama Sevens is held every February, Kiama Jazz and Blues Festival every March, Blowhole Bigfish Classic in April, Surflife Festival in June.
